Generosity resources

the rainbow fish

This book highlights the truth that it is in the giving where delight and abundance are found. This story shares of the joy that Rainbow Fish found when he shifted from hoarding his treasure to giving his treasure away. This significant shift towards generosity changed everything for Rainbow Fish.

the giving tree

This classic book tells of the tree that literally gives everything she has to the boy that she loves. In the story the tree is ever-present and always loving the little boy throughout his life journey. This tree loves the boy whether he is close or far, whether he is a little boy or grown into an elderly man, and she always seeks to give good gifts to the boy. In her giving, the tree experiences joy, yet the deepest joy for the tree is when the boy gives her his presence. There are so many lessons in this story for the reader to reflect on, yet it no doubt emphasizes themes of unconditional love and deep generosity.

the quiltmaker’s gift

This story tells of a quiltmaker who made the most glorious quilts imaginable. Her quilts were sought after throughout the land, yet she adamantly claimed that her quilts go only to those in need. A greedy King heard of her quilts and of course wanted one because they were the most beautiful of all quilts, yet this quiltmaker stayed true to her calling that her quilts only go to those in need. However, she tells this greedy King that he may in fact have one of her quilts if he were to give away everything that he owns. With every gift he gives away, a quilt square will be sewn. As you can imagine, this King learns an incredible truth regarding the relationship between his treasures and a full heart.
